Join me for a five part online series designed for honing in on the details without losing the big picture of yoga teacher and studentship. This series is open to any past, present, or future yoga teacher or dedicated student with questions and curiosity.
Session 1: refine your cuing
May 11 9:30-10:45am pacific
Discover how to say more with fewer words. I’ll share my secrets of how to develop and define your own articulation and create a rhythm within practice. Play with using verbal cues as the theme of practice and a way to create a full circle moment in class. My language is steeped with Katonah Yoga material, inspired by my teacher— Richard Rosen, filled with metaphor, and evolves based on how my own tides are turning on any given day. This will be an opportunity to learn, refine, or start to build your own language.
Session 2: sequence play
May 18 9:30-10:45am pacific
Construct creative, yet simple sequences that make anatomical sense and luxurious space in the body. Then, learn how to reference these short sequences in your teaching. Play with linking them together in a well informed way to maintain an evolving fresh class. I use this concept in every single class I teach and it is a great way to get out of your head (and notebook) if you’re newer to teaching public classes or if you’re looking to shake up how you sequence.
Session 3: integrate imagination
May 25 9:30am-10:45am pacific
A big how to session on where and how breathwork, breath wraps, and meditation can make sense within practice. Spoiler alert— it’s not just at the beginning and end! We will celebrate Katonah Yoga theory from the simplest ways to invigorate students with this potent language if you’re teaching a vinyasa class, but want a little extra zhuzh to playing with cross referencing the many layers of Katonah Yoga language and imagery with your own personal spin.
Session 4: mechanics of the breath
June 1 9:30am-10:45am pacific
Nerd out over the thing that literally keeps us living. Refresh your knowledge of the basic anatomy of breath and go deeper into the experience of the torso. This session will have a breathwork practice with both active pranayama and subtle nervous system nourishing breath techniques followed up with a dive into how it all happens and ways to support any student in finding a comfortable way to sit or lay to have their own potent and very possible breath practice. Very informative for your own home practice!
Session 5: AMA
June 22 9:30am-10:45am pacific
Ask me anything! After taking some space and time to integrate the material, we’ll gather again to go over any musings or questions that may have come up during the series or questions that you wish to bring from the jump that you’ve never actually asked, but wish you could. We’ll cover anything you’re interested in. My request is that you send the questions to me as they come up— you won’t forget in time and I can thoughtfully curate our last session together.
Investment $150 (via venmo) or £115 (via paypal)
Join live on zoom. All sessions will be recorded and sent out if you cannot attend live or want to revisit any material.
All materials will be underpinned by Katonah Yoga® and hours are bankable for Katonah Yoga® certification.
