Yoga Recess


Making my return to Breathing Room Alameda to invite you into adult recess!

A three week series to move and breath together in a supported and experimental way steeped in Katonah Yoga material.

— Explore using a chair to accentuate and elevate your asana practice

— Contact with others as a way to gather useful information about who and how you are

— Make connection with our own inner experience, with each other, with the world around us to create meaningful movement in your body and mind

This series will layer upon itself and the hope is that we can create a container for communal gathering where all participants show up for all sessions. Invest in yourself and join us on our metaphorical playground.

Sept 18— Yoga Recess: Chairs

Get places you didn’t know you could and celebrate where your body already enjoys going by using the support of a chair as scaffolding. This practice will explore all things from simple sitting to lunging yourself out to seeing around yourself in twists and getting over yourself in backbends all with the chair as a tool to have a more well rounded experience of embodiment. 

Sept 25— Yoga Recess: Contact 

Experience the art of adjustments by both being supported and supporting each other. We will explore active yoga poses and a multitude of ways adjusting the shape can give someone a better measure, more space, and an experience of liberation. Come to get a foot in your back! IYKYK and if you don’t come try something new. 

Oct 2— Yoga Recess: Connection

Play with fluidity and what it means to show up to a communal yoga practice. Katonah salutations to explore pliancy and breath in movement, king of the mountain to build tenacity, activating breath techniques to pump you up, and more sneaky stuff along the way. This will be a true recipe for joy to raise the spirits high.
